East - 2.25" Button Machine

This machine allows you to create custom 2.25" buttons. In addition to the button maker, a die cutter is also available that will cut your artwork to the exact size needed by the button maker. Every button is made up of a button shell, a pinback, your artwork, and a mylar covering. The first 10 buttons you make every time you come in are free; additional supplies after that are $0.10 per button.

Makers must be at least 9 years of age to be in the makerspace, and children 9-11 must have a parent or guardian present. Parents / guardians must sign paper use forms for anyone under the age of 18.

The Brother 1034D is a 3/4 thread serger with differential feed, featuring color-coded thread guides, presser foot pressure adjustment, a built-in free arm, retractable knife blade, and three (3) accessory feet. This machine is perfect for finishing edges and hems of most fabric types, and is an ideal tool for garment construction. The makerspace offers a variety of thread, needles, scrap fabric, scissors and rotary cutters, and other sewing tools.

The Brother SE400 is a computerized embroidery and sewing machine, featuring a touch screen LCD, automatic needle threader, upper thread and bobbin thread sensors, automatic thread cutter, speed control, needle up/down positioning, built-in free arm, seven (7) standard accessory feet, and an embroidery foot. This light-weight machine is a great basic embroidery machine for small (under 4"x4") designs. The makerspace offers a variety of thread, needles, scrap fabric, scissors and rotary cutters, and other sewing tools.

The Epilog Laser Zing 24 is available for cutting and engraving a variety of materials (up to 24” x 12”) to make items with a high level of accuracy and detail. Makers should bring their own materials to engrave or cut.

East - Lulzbot Mini 2 3D Printer

East - Lulzbot Mini 2 3D Printer

The Lulzbot Mini 2 printer is available for 3D printing using PETG and PLA filament (print area is 6.30" L x 6.30" W x 7.09" H). Filament costs $0.05 per gram. Patrons are not allowed to bring outside filament for use with PPLD machines.

This machine requires badging before use. Badging can be done online with a quick 20-minute video and quiz. To get badged and for more information on the printers, please visit our 3D Printing LibGuide.

Please use Cura to estimate how long your print will take ahead of time. You will need to know how long your print will take before making a reservation. Need help? Visit the Using Cura to Preview Print Time section of the LibGuide or stop by one of the makerspaces during Open Hours to receive staff assistance.

The Mini 2 can be reserved for up to 4 hours. If you have a longer print job or one that requires a larger bed size, larger Workhorse printers are available for reservation at Library 21C, East Library, and Sand Creek Library that can accommodate print times of up to 10 hours.

You will need to stay with your print for the first 45 minutes (according to the print timer in Cura) to ensure that it is printing correctly. Please see the LibGuide for more information on printing procedures.

Die-cutters allow people to safely and accurately cut or draw designs on paper, vinyl, iron-on transfer materials, cardstock, sticker paper, select fabrics, and other materials. PPLD offers some items for purchase; call specific locations for availability.

This machine, the Silhouette Cameo Pro, can accommodate materials up to 24" wide.
